This Costa Rica tour offers a little of something for everyone. From the Corcovado National Park which has been called "the most biologically intense place on earth" by National Geographic to the Arenal Volcano, the most active and no doubt the most studied of all Costa Rica's volcanoes to Monteverde, a bird watchers paradise. There are more than 400 species of birds to be found in this park, including the elusive Resplendent Quetzal. On this tour of Costa Rica there are plenty of things to see and do.

Best of Costa Rica Tour Details

Day 01

Your Costa Rica Tour starts at the Costa Rica Airport with a meet & greet and transfer to hotel. Overnight in San Jose at Hotel Grano de Oro or similar.

Day 02

Early morning pick up at your hotel for a transfer to the airport in San José. At the lodge discretion you may fly domestic or charter planes to Puerto Jimenez or Golfito, then a single engine charter plane to the remote, private airstrip on the beach at Tiskita Jungle Lodge. Tiskita is a 800-acre private rain forest reserve in the remote region of Golfito on the southern Pacific coast. Enjoy a guided tour of the Tiskita rain forest and trails. Explore fresh water jungle pools and beautiful, isolated beaches. The bird watching is fabulous with over 285 species identified in the area to date. Tiskita is also an experimental exotic tropical fruit farm. Overnight at Tiskita Lodge. (BLD)

Days 03

Tiskita Jungle Lodge - tour the Rainforest and area trails, swim in ocean or fresh water jungle pools, visit the nearby village, or simply relax in your hammock. Overnight Tiskita Lodge. (BLD)

Day 04

Another day to enjoy Tiskita Rainforest Reserve. Tour the rainforest and area trails, swim in the ocean or fresh water jungle pools, visit the nearby village or simply relax in your hammock. Horseback riding is also available at an extra cost. Overnight Tiskita Lodge. (BLD)

Day 05

After breakfast transfer to Golfito for your flight to San José, same way you flew in combination of domestic and charter flights. Upon arrival you will be met by your driver/guide for scenic drive to Arenal Volcano stopping en route at the Rainforest Aerial Tram where you may chose to ride on the 90 minute tram ride through the Canopy or for the more adventurous do the Canopy zip line tour

After lunch continue to Arenal & overnight at the Arenal Observatory Lodge or similar. From the Observatory, which is situated only 1.6 miles south of the volcano, visitors have an impressive view of this “giant which rumbles” and erupts with spectacular displays of vapor and lava. The Observatory is the only lodge situated within the Arenal Volcano National Park, which encompasses thousands of acres of pristine rainforest and teems with tropical birds and wildlife. (BLD)

Day 06

In the morning you will have time to further explore with your guide before the transfer to Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the most diverse and richest tropical cloud forests in the New World. It is best known as home to the Resplendent Quetzal but has hundreds of other birds, mammals and plant species. Overnight in Monteverde at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar. (B)

Day 07

In the morning visit a private Reserve to explore a set of natural trails and canopy walkways amidst the Cloud Forest. The treetop walkways are suitable for people of all ages and physical condition, duration of the tour is usually between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. You will enjoy lunch in the Monteverde area at a local restaurant before the afternoon hike through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. View the misty forest with its dense vegetation and majestic trees. Overnight Monteverde at Hotel Fonda Vela or similar. (B)

Day 08

Depart for San Jose, late afternoon arrival back in San Jose Overnight at Hotel Bougainvillea or similar. (B)

Day 09

Airport transfer for return flight home.
