Tamarindo is located on Costa Rica's Pacific Coast in Guanacaste Province. The area is famous for its waves but is also well known for its numerous national parks, majestic volcanoes, teeming wild life, sports fishing, and lots of adventure sports. Tamarindo is about 260 km from the Costa Rica's capital San Jose and only 45 minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport at Liberia.

Our Beginner Surf Camps are perfect for the individual who has never tried surfing or the beginner who lacks consistency and confidence under various conditions. For intermediate surfers, those who can consistently catch waves but who want to learn new maneuvers and experience a variety of wave conditions, our Intermediate Surf Camps are ideal. Our surf instructors will conduct lessons based on your individual skill level.

This is not just a surf lesson: it is the first step in surfing. After years of experience teaching surfing we guarantee you will stand up and ride your first waves in just one lesson! Our lesson begins on the beach with some theory and practicing the right movements and the position you have to use on the board. Then we go into the water and start surfing! Successive surf lessons will focus on turning and maneuvers.

Your Surf lodging is at Villas Langosta. Located directly on Playa Langosta Beach, only 5 minutes (2.5km) south of Tamarindo. It is an oasis for the vacationer. Costa Rica Airfare and meals not included in Luxury Packages Non surfing activities are not included

Rustic Surf Camp: Beginner Surfers

Lodging at the Villa Baula Ecological Beach Hotel, Playa Grande, Guanacaste, Costa Rica.The Hotel is located directly on the beach and surrounded by the National Marine Park Las Baulas of Guanacaste and the Wildlife Refuge of Tamarindo. The hotel has 20 beachfront rooms and 5 cabinas. The Jaguarundi Restaurant located on the property, serves an international menu and typical Costa Rican food. The Rustic Surf Camp includes 2 meals per day.

Where is the surf camp located?

Our surf camps are held in two locations near Tamarindo. The luxury camp lodging is in Playa Langosta, only 3km from Tamarindo. You can walk there in 20 minutes. The Rustic camp lodging is in Playa Grande, just across the Tamarindo Estuary. You can cross by boat (5 minute ride) and walk into town in 20 minutes. Our surf shop is located by the “Tamarindo Circle” right on the beach.

Do I Need to Arrange Transportation?

 No, we have a modern, air-conditioned 9-passenger van. Transportation to and from the airport is included. All transport is also included for surfing lessons. Local restaurants, shops and grocery stores are within walking distance however you are free to arrange a taxi if you prefer, not included in our pricing.

What should I bring?

Come prepared to have a great time. For the surfing sessions wear only your swim suit; we provide rash guards. During the day, light airy shirts and pants with sandals are most comfortable. Sun block is a must and insect repellant recommended (can be purchased locally as well). A pair of hiking/walking shoes if you plan to explore the rainforests, water falls and/or volcanoes. Tamarindo has several banks and ATM machines for spending money. The Costa Rican currency is the Colone, however, travelers checks and American Dollars are accepted almost everywhere.
