The Costa Rica Surf Camp at Playa Grande welcomes you to a unique and friendly surf camp where you can learn to surf while enjoying the natural atmosphere that Costa Rica is famous for. Our surf camp is for beginner and intermediate surfers primarily, but we offer room and board only for those that would prefer not to have surf lessons. A typical surf camp package would include a bed with a/c, dinner at a restaurant, airport transportation from Liberia, surfboard, and instructions daily. It is our pleasure to make your stay at our camp is as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our camp is just 150 feet from the beach in a regional location that is rich with culture, nature, offshore winds and beach break waves. You will not be disappointed, this is a wave rich region of Costa Rica with miles of empty beach breaks. Advanced level riders will not be short of challenge or adventure searching out empty, uncrowded waves.

There is a common kitchen and a barbecue for our guests to share. We have a swimming pool, surfboards to rent, and have Internet and telephone service. For all your meals we are close to a snack/restaurant and groceries. We are also close to the town of Tamarindo which has restaurants, groceries, shopping, art, crafts and more.

The Costa Rica Surf Camp Playa Grande property is set back within secure and lush tropical gardens. At the Playa Grande surf camp in Costa Rica the Bed linen and mosquito nets are provided and the cottages and surrounding areas are cleaned daily. The elevated bungalows have their own veranda to relax in our supplied hammocks.

Our 3-two person Cabanas have A/C and the 2-four person elevated Cabanas come with fans and a balcony with 2 hammocks. In the surf camp, there are available 3 bathrooms to share. The Playa Grande Surf Camp in Costa Rica has a swimming pool for in-house guests only. Also within the camp are palapa covered tables, and plenty of beachfront park to relax in and explore. Guests also have available for use a kitchen and barbeque and soon telephone and internet access will be available. Playa Grande Surf Camp provides a quiet, comfortable and tranquil setting. Surrounded by breath taking scenery, incredible sunsets and diverse wildlife on the land and in the sea.

About The Surf Camp

Owned by brothers Gerry and Patrick and Margo Gilhool (husband-wife team), Playa Grande Surf Camp - formerly Jammin' Surf Camp - is now under new ownership. We are open for business and are currently accepting reservations.

It is our pleasure to make your stay at our camp as pleasant as possible. We wish to share our local knowledge and hospitality with you. PGSC is close to the beach and in a regional location that is rich with culture, nature, offshore winds and beach break waves.

Cottages at Playa Grande Surf Camp

Playa Grande Surf Camp consists of 3 cabanas with A/C (each with 2 single beds), and 2 elevated cabans with ceiling fans and 4 single beds in each. .

The property is 75 meters from the beach and set back within secure and lush tropical gardens. Guests share 3 private bathrooms. Bed linens, towels, and mosquito nets are provided, and the cottages and amenities are cleaned daily. The elevated bungalows have their own veranda to relax in, complete with hammocks.

Playa Grande Surf Camp has a swimming pool for in-house guests only as well as palapa covered tables. There is also plenty of beachfront park to relax in and explore. Guests also have available for use a kitchen and barbeque, and telephone and internet services will be available.

Two-Person Cabanas

Can accomodate 2 persons. The cabanas are equipped with air conditioning. Each has 2 single beds.Four-Person Cabanas

Four-Person Pilotis

Can accomodate 4 persons in 4 single beds. No A/C, but have ceiling fans. Each bungalow has a covered patio deck with supplied hammocks. There is a rancho (an undercover open outdoor area) for lounging as well..

For those looking to learn how to surf while in Costa Rica. Playa Grande can also offer a surf school.  Playa Grande Surf School is literally the best place to learn how to surf, or to take your current knowledge of surfing to the next level. Our patient, knowledgeable instructors and fun waves are waiting for you. This Surf School package would include:

• Surf Lessons ( Beginner, Intermediate or advanced)
• Surfboard, wax and shirt
• Unlimited use of the surfboard
• A 1 to 3 max. instructor to student ratio
• Room
• Dinner
• Does not include International Airfare to Costa Rica
