Tour of Rio San Juan

Nicaragua’s third longest river, Rio San Juan, is abundant with lots of fish and particularly its water holds an exotic species only found on this southeastern region of the country, the big claw river prawn or “freshwater lobster” since its appearance is more like a little lobster. Its scientific name is Macrobrachium Carcinus and its distribution ranges within the tropical and subtropical regions.

This crustacean has been a very important part of the nutritious diet of the local people because of its high protein quality meat and fair size. Fishermen will use wood and bamboo boxes to trap the river prawns then they will sell them to local restaurants where by using special recipes, mouth-watering prawn dishes will be prepared.

This Nicaragua Tour Package would include

• Transfer on Day 1 from Managua Hotel to Airport.
• Flight from Managua to San Carlos and return (at this time airfare cost US$116.19 / Pers. This tariff can change anytime without previous notice).
• Local transfers from San Carlos landing strip to port and return.
  Public boat transportation to Sabalos on Day 1.
• Two nights’ accommodation at Sabalos Lodge Bungalow with breakfast and dinner on day 1.
• Private Boat transportation on Day 3 and 4.
• One night accommodation at Celentiname Lodge with breakfast, one lunch and one dinner.
• Full day excursion on Day 2 to Indio-Maiz Reserve and el Castillo including local guide, entrance fee and lunch.
