Waves
Mainbreak
The real draw card for the region is the main beachbreak. The best sandbank is an unhurried 10 minute walk up the beach from the house. The break is very consistent and basically just goes hollow from takeoff.
On small to medium swells it bears a very close resemblance to Hossegor in France in summer. On large southern hemi swells that arrive with power is starts to get thicker and stronger, like a more forgiving Puerto Escondido. At this point you have the options of charging hard or riding some big long walls at the Point, a 10 minute boat ride away.
The Point
The Point has an inside and outside wave which is actually a reef situated off an island, accessed in about 10 minutes by boat.
On a good swell it provides long lefts of around 50-80 meters. The wave peels uniformly with a steep smackable wall, a nice change from the shorter intensity of the Mainbreak. The inside breaks on a different tide than the outside so as long as there's swell, there's waves. It gets particularly good and hollow when the swell is really macking and can hold serious size.
Playgrounds
Its a 10 minute drive away and is a fun hotdog wave. The beach has rocks on either side and the sand usually builds up to form a peak on the right, the left and in the middle. If you are just downright sick of getting barreled, it's a fun alternative.
The Entrance
Situated at the base of a volcano, about 20 minutes away by boat, this volcanic sand beachbreak is a good backup if the swell is too small at the other breaks. When the tide is right and the sand builds up around the rivermouth it can have good form.
