Los Cardones Nicaragua Surf Lodge is located on a long deserted beach of the warm Pacific Coast of Nicaragua. 5 beachside surf bungalows are spread out along the coast, each with its balcony, hammock and lounge chairs. Awaiting guests are some of the best surf spots of Nicaragua, great fishing, snorkeling, horseback riding and many more adventures Los Cardones is located on the Pacific Coast of Nicaragua, north of Montelimar and south of El Transito.

The breaks are right in front of the beach-side lodge, or within walking distance. Waves are extremely consistent and totally un-crowded. An epic left point break, several reef breaks and beach breaks provide a wide selection of quality waves year round, depending on swell and tide, all within walking distance of the lodge. Empty waves roll in all year. The beaches are exposed to both SW and NW swells, making the surf very consistent. An epic left point break, a right reef break, excellent beach breaks await our guests, just one hour from the airport of Managua. Surf, get back and snap a cold beer, eat delicious meals, shoot the breeze about the last surf session with other guests, wake up and do it all over again.

Beginners will find a gentle sand bottom beach, suitable for learning to surf, buggy boarding or body surfing. The beach is exposed to both SW and NW swells, making the surf very consistent all year, never flat. To surf in Nicaragua from late April to early November: biggest swells and November to January: waist to chest high offshore perfection. All surf spots are right in front of the lodge or within walking distance.

You can be in the water surfing Nicaragua's empty waves just 2 hours after landing!!

Rooms

Lodging at Los Cardones Surf Lodge is in private ocean-front bungalows. Each bungalow has one room, its own private bathroom with a shower and basin, and a wide porch under a thatched palm roof. Bungalows are furnished with comfortable beds with mosquito nets, night tables, lounge chairs and, of course, hammocks.

In line with the eco-tourism theme of our operations, the bungalows do not have electricity but we do provide unlimited supply of candles. Compost toilets are a short walk away from the accommodations and thoroughly cleaned multiple times daily.

Bed arrangements in the bungalows differ based on occupancy.

Single Occupancy - One queen size bed.

Nicuragua Surf Location and breaks!

All surf spots are right in front of the lodge or within walking distance. Common denominators of our breaks are consistency, no crowds and offshore conditions almost year round.

Our resort has a maximum capacity of approx 15 guests and the remoteness of our location vis-a-vis the more developed surf industry in the San Juan del Sur area make day-trippers visits very unlikely keeping the crowd factor very low. Assuming all of them are surfers, our guests represent realistically 80-90% of the surf population in the area at any one time. With 5 breaks to choose from, chances of competition and tension on the line-up are pretty much not existent.

Our local breaks truly cater for surfers of all levels, from fast and barrelling left and right reef breaks, classic A-frames on a sand bottom and fun and gentle beach breaks for beginners and longboard lovers. The beaches are exposed to both SW and NW swells, making the surf very consistent all year:

Hemorroids

An island-like left point break. A fast and hollow wave for experts only. Breaks over a flat rock shelf.

Ranchos

Beginners will find a gentle sand bottom beach right in front of the lodge. Great for long boarding too. November to March, the smaller swells make it ideal for learning.

Chiggas

A right reef break that works well on south and west swells. Can get hollow on big sets.

Outer Chiggas

Breaks left and right over a rocky reef outside of chiggas.

North Beach

Nice A-frame peaks stretched along a white sand beach. Holds perfect shape overhead high.

Surf Package Rate Includes

Accommodation, Meals and unlimited drinks drinks, round trip transfers from Managua Airport (1 hour ride). Included drinks are beers, soft drinks, juices, water. In addition, local rum (Flor de Cana) or wine bottles and a selection of snacks can be purchased.
