Costa Rica Fishing
Costa Rica is known as one of the most active fishing grounds in the world. Fishing here is world-class and several of the locally caught fish have broken world records Fishing is possible all year long, but the recommended best season is between November-May (of course this varies depending on what you want to fish for).
You can go sport fishing or in-shore fishing, and some of the outfitters offer half day trips in addition to the more traditional full day fishing trips. If you get lucky and get the fish to us in time, we are happy to prepare your catch for dinner!
Osa Sport Fishing
This outfitter operates a 30’ Stamas equipped full tuna tower, downriggers, enclosed head, modern navigation system, super wide beam (to decrease the “rolling” effect), and a fast 28-knot cruise. The boat is operated by U.S. Coast Guard Licensed captains and features top of the line fishing equipment.

Cabo Matapalo Sport Fishing
Mike Hennessey is a very well-known skipper in the Osa Peninsula. He operates two different boats, Kinembe and Jodari. Jodari is a 2002 Carolina Classic with two 250-h.p. Cummins diesel engines, full marlin tower, all marine electronics, Lee’s fighting chair and Shimanno and Penn international fishing tackles. Kinembe is a custom-made 23’ 1998 Center Console powered with two outboard Yamaha four-stroke engines, full electronics, This boat is run by certified U.S. captains.

Local Small Boats (Pangas)
These are boats owned and operated by local Costa Rican skippers. They are normally 20-21’ custom-made comfortable and small boats. They have VHF marine band radios, fish finder, GPS, and workable fishing equipment. The boats usually one outboard 100-h.p. or 115-h.p. fuel injection motors. These are the recommended outfitters for non-experienced fishermen or people that want to spend a little less but have a great fishing day.

Other Activities
- Hiking - Bosque del Cabo has hiking for both very experienced hikers looking for a challenge and people who just want to take a walk and enjoy nature.
- Tree Platform - This fantastic adventure begins when you are suited up in a harness and gloves, and connected to a pulley that will allow you to zoom through the rainforest on a 250 foot steel cable zip line! The zip line will gently deposit you right onto the deck of the tree platform. After spending time in the platform, you will be lowered down by a team of two well-trained and safety conscious guides. Then your guide will take you on a short hike of the surrounding forest. Children are welcome; we do have children’s harnesses as well as adult sizes. $45 per person
- Kayaking - Bosque has been working with Escondido Trex who offers many exciting kayaking adventures that will allow you to explore the beautiful scenery and wide variety of wildlife found in the area with the latest in kayaking equipment and fun-loving, knowledgeable guides. The sunset kayaking trip is one of the most popular for guests at Bosque. $40 per person (does not include cost of taxi ride to town)
- Sea Kayaking - Experience the excitement and challenge of kayaking in the ocean. This tour is not offered at all times of the year- please inquire with a staff member if you are interested. $45 per person (up to 8 people)
- Horseback Riding - Bosque del Cabo offers horseback riding through Matapalo and the surrounding the area. Children and adults are welcome. The tour takes approximately 2 hours to complete. $35 per person (not including the ride to and from the origination point of ride)
- Botanical Gardens Tour - Visit Casa Orquideas, one of the oldest and most interesting botanical gardens in the Golfo Dulce region. This trip includes the price of the boat and the fee for the garden and lunch.
$40 per person (minimum 4 people; does not include cost of taxi ride to town; 7:15am pickup in PJ) - Golfo Dulce Boat Trip - A knowledgeable local guide will take you on a 3-3½ hour boat tour of the gulf. Approximately $40 per person (up to 6 people; does not include cost of taxi ride to town)
- Dolphin Watch Tour - After swiming your guide will take you to a nice beach to enjoy refreshments and/or a place to go for a quick snorkel. Approximately $40 per person (minimum 4 people; does not include cost of taxi ride to town)
- Massage - Bosque has a secluded forest studio (located just 200 meters from the restaurant but totally private, and amazingly beautiful and tranquil) $50 per person /1 hour
- Yoga/Stretching Class - $15 per person, 1 hour session
- Reflexology - An acupressure foot massage that combines acupressure points and reflexology massage. $50 per person,1 hour session
- Snorkeling - Equipment will be provided, tour last from 3-3½ hours. $35 per person (up to 4 people; does not include cost of taxi ride to town)
- Waterfall Rappelling - You will be taken to a training session where you will be fitted with a climbing harness and taught the basics of climbing and “canyoning.” You will test out your new skills on a series of smaller waterfalls, and, when you are ready, you will tackle a 100 foot waterfall! $80 per person
- Guided Trips to Corcovado - There are no roads through Corcovado National Park; the only ways to enter the park are on foot or by plane. The park is located about a one-hour car ride from Bosque (to Carate); you access the park by hiking in along the beach. Alternatively, you can hire a plane to take you into the middle of the park (there is a grass-landing strip in Sirena). This is an all day trip that includes the cost of the guide and lunch. At least 48 hour notice is required for this trip; please be aware that space is limited in the park (in terms of people allowed in daily).
